Anne Katherine Halsall grew up in the Chicago area. She attended one of the most prestigious high schools in the state, the Illinois Math and Science Academy, which is where she learned how to build her first website.
She attended college at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign to study English, but ended up majoring in East Asian Languages and Cultures when she fell in love with her Japanese class. She still does amateur translation work on the side, and tries to visit Japan whenever possible.
Now she has made a career out of her favorite hobby, and pursues a growing interest in the art of interaction. Recently she has focused on refining her design skills, greater accessibility, meaningful markup and making information friendly.
She is currently living in the San Francisco Bay Area and works as a webmaster for Google.
